CARES Act Farmworker Housing & Safety
Notice of Public Hearing
The Wyoming County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:00 PM in the Board of Supervisors Chambers, 2nd Floor, 143 North Main Street, Warsaw, NY 14569 for the purpose of hearing public comments on the Wyoming County’s community development needs, and to discuss the possible submission of one or more Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) or Community Development Block Grant CARES (CDBG-CV) applications for the 2022 program year; specifically CDBG-CV Program: CARES Act Farmworker Housing & Safety. The CDBG program is administered by New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), and will make available to eligible local governments $10 million for the 2022 program year for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefitting low/moderate income persons. In addition, HCR has made available approximately $127 Million in program year 2020 CDBG-CV funds to prevent, prepare, and respond to the Coronavirus pandemic. Wyoming County is applying for $1 million in CDBG funds to improve farmworker housing conditions contributing to the spread of COVID-19 due to overcrowding, environmental conditions, substandard, or substandard living conditions. This includes rehabilitation of existing housing or in-kind replacement of existing housing units. The hearing will provide further information about the CDBG program and will allow for citizen participation in the development of any proposed grant applications and/or to provide technical assistance to develop alternate proposals. Comments on the CDBG program or proposed project(s) will be received at this time. The hearing is being conducted pursuant to Section 570.486, Subpart I of the CFR and in compliance with the requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.
